Struggle

Medium: watercolor
Size: 18×18

Visiting as many national parks as possible is a favorite goal for Jeri and me. One of those adventures took us to Glacier National Park in Montana. I can’t begin to describe the 360° beauty. What makes our trips special is paying attention, not just to the magnificent scenery, but to the beautiful details along the way. The hike back to Avalanche Lake was one of those times we noticed a group of downed trees close to the trail. The limbs took on characteristics of intertwined arms in a graceful dance (Jeri’s observation) or an epic struggle (my observation). A friend described the painting as a “circle of life” with some trees thriving, some fallen, and others decaying. I hadn’t thought of that but glad she saw it!
