The tide was out in the small coastal town of Castine, Maine. A dinghy was moored with a thick rope to large hand-hewn square boulders stacked on the beach. The light had just peeked over the top of the boulders creating cool purplish-blue shadows. I took a couple of reference photos and decided on a tight crop for the final painting. “Moored Castine” was included in the 150th International American Watercolor Society exhibition where I earned signature membership.
